Orientalist Camel and Veiled Woman Lithographed Cigarette Tin, Circa 1910s-1930s
$38.00 USD
Hinged lithographed cigarette tin with an Orientalist scene of a veiled woman and a richly caparisoned camel before a whitewashed coastal town and minaret, framed by agave plants and a gilt border. Orientalist imagery like this was hugely popular on European cigarette packaging in the early 20th century, when "Turkish" and "Egyptian" tobaccos were marketed as exotic luxuries. Shows surface wear, scattered spotting and edge rubbing consistent with age.
