An early 19* century Continental (?) oil on canvas painting depicting the Adoration of the Magi (with a seated Madonna and the Christ Child, a kneeling king and other figures in the mid-ground and background) The artist is unidentified - no signature visible as the painting is framed with an oval opening covering the corners of the rectangular canvas. The painting was not examined without the frame.
Painting dimensions: approx. 19 12 x 15 1" Outer frame dimensions: 22 12 x 19" Painting appears to be on its original stretcher and in good condition for its age, with minor abrasion visible where the oval frame covers the canvas. Evidence of some previous restoration to the surface of the paint. The frame appears to be original and is in fair condition, with some surface damage and losses of gilding and plaster in several places.
