Antique Odd Fellows I.O.O.F. Ceremonial Mask with Hair Wig, Circa 1890s-1920s

Painted mesh ceremonial face mask with hand-painted eyes, brows and lips, framed by a long dark hair wig on a fabric band. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows staged its degree initiations as dramatic plays, and lodges bought masks, wigs and costumes from regalia makers so members could portray the characters in the ritual. Shows age, wear and fragility.
