Antique Framed Sepia Photograph of Soldiers Posed Among Skulls and Bones, Circa 1890s-1910s

Striking antique sepia photograph of uniformed soldiers in campaign hats seated among a great heap of human skulls and bones, in a walnut frame with gilt liner. Soldiers of the period often posed at ossuaries and battlefield burial sites, and these grim souvenir images were printed and sold as curiosities. Shows toning and wear consistent with age.
