Antique Silk Church Processional Banner, "O Mary Conceived Without Sin," Circa 1890s-1920s

Painted silk processional banner with gold fringe reading "O Mary Conceived Without Sin, Pray for Us Who Have Recourse to Thee," around an image of the Virgin Mary with outstretched hands. The prayer comes from the Miraculous Medal, revealed to St. Catherine Labouré in Paris in 1830, and banners like this were carried by parish sodalities in processions. Shows toning, staining and wear consistent with age.
