Nickel-plated steel surgical foetal destruction forceps with offset ring handles and angled, toothed jaws on a pivoting scissor action. The bent shank let a surgeon work deep inside a cavity while keeping the hand clear of the line of sight, a design seen in gynecological instruments of the period. Designed to destroy the foetus often to save the mothers life during miscarriage. Shows wear to the plating consistent with age.
